My Story

The core belief that guides my work is that a fully integrated birth experience is every woman’s birthright. Honoring the physiological blueprint of birth and experiencing a fully held postpartum has the potential to heal communities across time and down lineages. Mother-centered postpartum gives women the resourcing that creates communities rooted in love, acceptance, honor, and resiliency.

My work on a variety of small, regenerative farms has shown me what I already knew to be true: nature’s design is perfect. Witnessing ewes move so instinctually through their birth processes only deepened my trust in birth. We are all part of this intricate web that is designed for life. And so with this knowing, comes trust. Trust in birth, and trust in you to heal.

I’ve been drawn to birthwork since I was a young girl. My father's emotion in telling the birth of my older brother- an accidental freebirth- born quickly into the arms of my father, was a narrative so different from the frankly horrifying story shown most everywhere else. This different vision of what birth has the potential to be nestled inside of me, and over the years it grew.

I nurtured this seed by talking to women and mothers, attending women's circles, learning in my own body what it means to be a bleeding woman, taking courses about birth and women's care, reading so many books, and sitting in service at the feet of mothers.

My work as a postpartum doula is rooted in Ayurvedic postpartum protocols which encourage a 42 day laying in period. My work is also informed by Traditional Chinese Medicine, herbal allies, and physiology of infants and the mother-baby dyad.
